Refuge is sought three times and the construction tightens with each. The first sets two of His attributes against each other, pleasure against displeasure. The second does the same with pardon and punishment. The third strips the attributes away and leaves only the pronoun standing on both sides. A statement then replaces the requests altogether: praise cannot be enumerated. The closing line points away from the speaker's words and toward His own.
