There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs dominion and praise, and He is over all things competent. There is no power and no strength except by Allah. The declaration that none is worthy of worship except Allah returns three times, and each return carries something new. The first states His oneness and what belongs to Him — dominion, praise, power over all things — and adds that no power or strength exists except by Him. The second turns from what is true of Him to what those saying it do: we do not worship except Him, and every favour, grace and good praise is His. The third attaches sincerity of religion to the declaration.
