Tafsir

Bismillah — Ibn Kathir explains that beginning any act with Allah's name is a declaration of seeking His blessing. The one who says Bismillah acknowledges that all power belongs to Allah.

The combination of ar-Rahman and ar-Rahim establishes that mercy is the primary attribute through which Allah relates to His creation.
